Herding Report

Lowri - Dinah has reported that TM survived the day.  She didn't fall down once!  The judge LOVED Dinah.  He thought she should be competing at the trial level.  She easily Q'ed on her PT run.  She did get hyper-excited and barked and barked at TM when they were trying to set up for the exhaust.  TM finally took what she could get.  Dinah got LOTS of praise as they exited the arena.  She was strutting her stuff.

My boyfriend was a little wilder than he is at our farm.  He was quite exuberant!  He did a very nice job of covering the escapes that HE caused!  I like doing that too <G>  At any rate, he Q'ed in both HT and PT.  That makes TM breath a little easier about sending him home with a title.  If he Q's tomorrow in either class, he will have a title.  If he Q's in both classes, he will have both titles.  TM has her fingers crossed!

TM will be home tomorrow late afternoon.  I wonder if she will notice how much my babies have grown?

  1. I didn't realize you could do both HT and PT in the same trial. Wish I'd known that a couple of years back when I got the boys' HT titles. It would have been a more thorough use of all those herding lesson dollars ;-)

    1. It is a great way to get the titles quickly accomplished, but there are a few things to be aware of. 1) If you Q in PT and don't complete your HT title, you cannot go back and finish the HT at a later date. 2) If you are planning on going on into trialing, the extra exposure of multiple trials over a longer period of time, help you work through the dog's adrenaline highs before you end up actually trialing for points. So the only time I would do this would be if I was sending a dog home and wanted to make sure I had every opportunity to put a title on him. In this case, we actually earned both the HT and PT.

  2. The judge didn't know that either until Susan and the other judge so informed him!

  4. Congratulations!!
I was so bummed that the trial and the agility trial were on the same weekend again... and just 5 miles away from each other! It was really tough to miss :(
Hopefully next year Porter will be ready for intermediate & Stout will be ready for something. Then I will definitely be there!
