My Babies

Lowri - My niece, Story, lives with MC.  She went to the dog show in Knoxville today.  She was in the 4-6 month baby puppy class.  She took a baby puppy Group 3!  She is starting off early.  We are very proud of her.

My babies are growing so fast!  Their eyes are opening.  Soon they will be proper little terrors.  I am sure they will quickly grow into their baddog family reputation.

Bailey is a red brindle.  His eyes are open.

Callie was the first to open her eyes - at 11 days.

Devon - aka "the Hulk".  He is over 2 pounds!

Ethan - he has the least "chrome", but makes up for it with angles!

Fiona - that isn't a growth on her back, just loose skin.

Gabby - she is a dark brindle.

12 Days Old

Lowri - My darling babies are 12 days old.  They are growing up so fast!  Callie has her eyes open and all the puppies get up on their feet to travel around the pen.  There was almost an escape today.  TM was making sure the TV worked (it was the cable box that died).  That meant moving TVs around.  She left the gate to the puppy pen open as everyone was nursing.  When she got back, three of my overachievers had made a break for it.  One almost succeeded, except he fell asleep.

Here is their picture from today.  Fiona, the red girl is sleeping on Ethan.  Callie is next with Bailey up next to the door.  Gabby is facing the bottom of the picture and Devon is the closest to me.

Tuesday in Town

Lowri - We came back to town today.  TM did a lot of shuffling in the puppy room.  She made the puppy pen quite a bit larger.  I didn't get to see it until she was done.  I like it.  She added a concrete block for my children to play with.  She also has a bunch of new toys that arrived this weekend.  Here they are:

From my brother, Tommy and his mama, Ms. Betty

From Ms. Kathy, who will be Peyton's mom - once we figure out who Peyton is.

From MP - Aren't they cute?

From my brother, Tommy, for ME!

TM finished moving us in and then went to the store to get some fruit and stuff.  Here is what she saw when she got back.  My boyfriend...you can't take him anywhere!

Monday Photo Shoot

Lowri - Here are my babies on their ninth day.  Have you noticed that TM and MC take tons of pictures of my babies - and very few of ME?  I am the important one here!

Anyway, back to my beautiful babies...

Sunday Fun

Lowri - MC came up to the farm today.  She brought Story and Dinah.  They got to herd MY ducks and sheep.  My boyfriend got to herd MY sheep.  They did a really good job.  Here is TM's favorite photo of my boyfriend herding.

I'm Flying!

FINALLY, I got to go out and help TM with a lamb.  It had escaped from the field.  I went and helped TM put it back in the field.  TM will fix the fence tomorrow.  Apparently, I helped a little enthusiastically.

Then MC and TM came up to the house.  MC took a bunch of pictures.  This is my favorite of them.  Miss Fiona is looking very nice.  I love her little black mask and black tipped ears.

Cold Saturday Morning

Lowri - Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!  It was cold last night.  We are at the farm.  TM set up a nice spot for me and the kids.  They are hogging the heating pad.  I wouldn't mind a piece of it.  It was in the 20's outside and barely 60 in the house.  TM turned up the heat.

Day 6 Picture

Lowri - Here is the picture of my babies from today.  Their little noses are starting to blacken.  I LOVE my new job as Mom!  The five on the left are all over a pound.  Ethan is trying hard to catch up.  He should be there tomorrow.

Starting on the left they are: Bailey, Callie, Fiona, Gabby, Devon and Ethon.

Day 5 pictures

Lowri - TM was going to try to get head shots of the puppies, but they weren't cooperating.  I think she is going to wait a couple of weeks on them.

Can you see Fiona's tail?  She is on the bottom of the pile.

From the left: Devon, Ethan, Fiona's butt, Gabby, Bailey, and Callie.

5 AM Snack

Lowri - It's a good thing that TM is keeping her camera in the puppy room.  She needs it to capture the moments of cuteness.  My darling baby, Callie, is getting an early morning snack to tide her over until breakfast.

I don't know how she got over the pig rail.
We went to the vet this morning.  Ms. Kay said I was doing great.  My puppies cried when their dew claws were removed, but they settled right back down.  They were VERY good during their first car ride.  I fed them second breakfast when we got home.

Baby Names

Lowri - TM and I conferred and my babies all have names!  Here are their Day2 pictures with their names.
This is Bailey, my first born.

This is Callie, my first girl.

Introducing Devon, the second boy.

Ethan, my third boy.  Currently the smallest, but that will change soon.

Fiona, my lovely redhead.

And Gabby, who was hiding when we took the xray.

Puppy Tipping

Lowri - TM is going to explain Puppy Tipping.  I can assure you no puppies were hurt in the taking of these pictures.  I was watching very carefully!

TM - When the puppies are only a day or two old, you can learn a lot about their structure if you look at them on their sides.  You can see shoulder angulation, rear angulation, length of back to rib, all sorts of things.  After two days, they have fleshed out and you see fat puppies - which is a good thing.

So when they are just a day old, we start practicing Puppy Tipping.  Usually when you want to take pictures, the puppies want to sleep on their stomachs, not their sides.  All you see then is a cute little puppy.  You can't see angles.  So, while they are sleeping you gently roll them to their side and quick take their picture.  Cheryl (MC) got pictures while I tipped a puppy.
Getting ready to tip - make sure the person taking the pictures is ready.

My Beautiful Babies

Here they all are:

Can you believe she is on her feet 12 hours after birth?

SIX puppies

Lowri - Seven weeks ago, I told the pet psychic that I was going to have six babies.  TM pooh-poohed it because she said I didn't know how to count.  Who is laughing now?

Here is a picture of my six babies.  I have three girls and three boys.  The red puppy is one of my girls.  They weighed between 8.9 oz and 11.7 oz.  The biggest and the littlest are both boys.  Now I have to think of baby names.
